The research group is involved in the honours modules Access to Law and Human Rights and sustainable development. Students from the honours module Access to Law made a collection of essays (in Dutch) in which they investigated access to law and how it relates to social developments. An additional benefit is that The UMC Utrecht already collaborated with Conscia on network management. Long-term poverty or debt and stress around work and housing pose a risk to a promising start. Children living in families with low income have poorer health than children growing up in families with higher family wealth. Children who grow up in poverty also have fewer chances for a healthy life in older age. In addition, these children are twice as likely to live in poverty as adults. Thus, it is important to pay attention to family livelihood security from the child’s first 1,000 days. Cybersec Netherlands partners with Security Delta (HSD) to enhance cybersecurity resilience.
The programme incorporates a comprehensive blend of academic and experiential learning formats, including expert-led lectures, interactive seminars, policy simulations, and field trips to relevant sites and institutions. The course also addresses emergent challenges such as cyber threats, the weaponization of information, and energy security. Current social developments pose a risk to the livelihood security of all Utrechters. With the COVID pandemic period, increased inflation, energy poverty, the situation in the housing market and an increase in the number of people in temporary jobs, livelihood security is under additional pressure.
In addition, The UMC Utrecht’s security team has the opportunity to customize the services if necessary, by using tickets. Thanks to this hybrid form of outsourced administration, The UMC Utrecht has greater insight and retains control, while reducing management pressure. Livelihood insecurity has a major impact on the health of Utrechters. Residents who are struggling to make ends meet, have low incomes, are not gainfully employed or are dissatisfied with their homes are more likely to be behind in health, lifestyle and opportunities for healthy living than other groups of Utrechters. This involves a complex relationship between these different elements of livelihood security.
