How to Combine Scents: Basic Rules for Beginners

Combining scents is an art, but it also has its rules. If you’re just starting out, you may feel lost among so many scents. Which air care market trends go well together? Which ones repel each other?

Here’s a practical guide to help you start creating balanced and pleasing blends.

    1. Follow the 30/50/20 rule: 30% top notes

    50% middle notes

    20% base notes

This creates a classic, safe balance for beginners.

    2. Start with perfume scent manufacturer : 3 to 5 ingredients is enough to start. More than 6 can complicate the result.

    3. Don’t mix two powerful scents of the same type.

For example, patchouli + musk + leather can be too intense. Combine a strong one with softer ones.

    4. Try scent supplier by family

    Floral + citrus

    Woody + spicy

    Fruity + sweet (vanilla, caramel)

Herbal + fresh (mint, rosemary, eucalyptus)

    5. Use scent strips

Apply a few drops of each scent to a separate strip and hold them up to your nose at the same time. This way, you’ll know if they go well together before actually mixing them.
